On the 31st of August 2014, Joel had a fall and broke his C2, C5, T3, T4 & T5 vertebrae. The injury caused irreparable spinal cord damage and left him a C5 Quadriplegic.“LIFE ISN’T SUPPOSED TO BE FAIR, IT’S AN OPPORTUNITY”
Joel served as a Rifleman in the Australian Army for 5 years at 7RAR, Adelaide. He had recently returned home from an 8 month deployment in Afghanistan.Joel is now married and has two daughters. He is a strong advocate for people living with disability.
